I’ve had a flood of requests for maternity shoots lately, so this seemed like the perfect time to give everyone a look into what to expect.
The first question I usually get is, “When should I book?” Generally speaking, maternity sessions are held between 33-36 weeks. We want to schedule late enough that you have a fantastic baby bump, but not so long that you’re exhausted just thinking about getting off the couch (because believe me, you’ll get there ). Every woman is different, so we’ll play this by ear.
Next up is wardrobe! Different strokes for different folks as they say. Some women prefer to wear their own everyday clothes while others scour the internet for the perfect gown. Some people will ask what my preference is, and the only thing I ask is that you feel comfortable. If something doesn’t fit well, or the style isn’t your vibe, chances are good that energy will flow over into how you carry yourself during the shoot. I also have a nice selection of gowns you are welcome to use from my client closet. No additional fee; the use of these gowns is included in your session! Once we have the wardrobe nailed down we can find the perfect location. I shoot at a variety of locations throughout Grand Rapids, Caledonia, and Middleville. And for a small travel fee, we can even head to Lake Michigan for a beautiful, sunset beach session. We’ll work together to find an area that suits the needs of your shoot.
“Can I bring my partner, or kiddos, to the shoot?” You bet you can! I love adding your partner and littles into the mix, and your gallery will contain a nice variety of solo images as well as family.
